TAKE SHELTER

When a family man begins to experience vivid apocalyptic visions, he also begins to fear for his family’s safety and question his sanity. The plot is attention grabbing from the first few minutes. The dialogue brings to life a complex human story set in a simple town in Ohio. Michael Shannon is flawless in his portrayal of the tormented protagonist, a seriously underrated actor. The cinematography and special effects are subtle and seldom takes away attention from the story. Writer/Director Jeff Nichols plants the seed of doubt in the viewer’s mind from the first scene to the last. Is the family man an Oracle or is he a Schizophrenic? You’ll just have to watch the movie to find out.
