PROMETHEUS
“The
search for our beginning could lead to our end” is the tagline for the movie,
but after watching it, “The search for answers will lead to more questions” is
more appropriate. Rarely do I come across a film that is overflowing with
glaring cracks in the story and if I were to list them all, this mini review
would turn into a mini novel. The acting ensemble tries to give the film some
heart. Pearce is wonderfully unrecognizable, Theron pretty much plays her
real-life self, Fassbender’s turn as the android is absorbing and Rapace is an
endearing substitute to the Ripley character. The special-effects are fluid and
realistic especially the shots of the vessel Prometheus. The marble skinned
aliens look cool and the shots of deep space are a sight to behold. But all
that Sci-Fi pomp and pageantry cannot misdirect from the galactic blunders in
the plot. Director Ridley Scott has riddled this film with plot-holes that are
too many to mention. When a Sci-Fi movie contains so many inaccuracies it should
be called a Fantasy movie. Ridley’s return to the genre he made popular with
films like ALIEN & BLADE RUNNER is as fulfilling as George Lucas making
another Star Wars movie.
