X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST
The
evergreen Wolverine has to travel to the past in order to save
mutant-kind from an ominous future. With the help of 1970's Charles
Xavier and Magneto, Wolverine must prevent Mystique from
assassinating an influential person. “Days of Future Past” is a
beloved storyline from the Marvel Comic Book Universe. Although
changes have been made to the blueprint, the Bryan-Singerization has
reasonably worked because this film is essentially the sequel to
X-Men: First Class (2011) and not X-Men: The Last Stand
(2006). As much as I am fatigued with the X-Men movies this
particular offering recaptures the freshness of X-Men: First
Class. Charles, Eric and Raven are the main characters while
Logan plays more of a supporting role. The acting is exceptional and
the action/ special effects are better than almost all of the
forerunners. The stand out scene in this movie has to be the
Quicksilver action scene. It blends inventiveness and creativity to
produce a memorable movie moment. Director Bryan Singer returns to
the X-Men franchise he helped build. Although the unfolding of this
story is considerably better than The Last Stand, Singer and
company have jumbled up the continuity of the X-Men Movie Universe
beyond repair. There are so many glaring errors it's redundant to
even mention. This is such a shame if you consider what an impeccable
job Marvel Studios is doing to cohesively link every event in their
films. Although Days of Future Past is an entertaining couple
of hours, the integral continuance of story has been left in the
past.
